Yesterday wasn't that exciting since I devoted much of it to moving hostels and doing chores. I finally caved and had to do laundry, went to the grocery store, and cooked up the last of my Polish eggs that I'd been hauling around in my backpack. This hostel seems great and has a kitchen, which I haven't seen in any of my big city hostels thus far. I went to meet Adam again at night and we had dinner, stopped at a chocolate shop, and saw Brandenburg Gate. It's a cool monument, apparently from the Holy Roman Empire days, and had a huge concert going on behind it, though we couldn't really see what was going on from our perspective behind the stage. The memorial to the Jewish fatalities of the Holocaust is nearby. It's made of all these many narrow corridors between large concrete blocks. I don't really understand what it has to do with the Holocaust, but sinking down into these rows of blocks is definitely a strange feeling. It's apparently also a favorite location for local teenagers to play hide and seek. I went out later to ride the subway and get value from my pass, but didn't see anything very exciting. The streets were a lot quieter than I'd expected for a Friday night. Don't really know what I'll do today, but I feel like I've hardly explore the city at all so hopefully I'll get some of that in.
