First day I've had where the weather has been really terrible. Just raining all day. Now that I think of it I'm amazed I never had any days like this until now, but it was inevitable. I walked southwest of the hostel to the next island down which had all these big cliffs overlooking the city. Would've been nicer on a clear day but so it goes. I walked a few more islands south until I got to this big forested park on a riverbank. It was a very nice area of greenspace and makes me appreciate just how spread out Stockholm is. Someone complained to me about this, but it's a logical outcome of having so many islands. I think it would be more annoying as a full time resident than it is as a tourist. After a few hours of walking I was totally soaked, so I went back to the hostel to warm up and dry off a little. I made dinner (groceries in this old part of the city are outrageously overpriced but I didn't want to drag food halfway across town on the subway). I talked with some people in the hostel for a while and then went out that night with a German guy. We tried to find a pub, but even though it was barely midnight everything seemed to be closed. I was out much later than that Monday night so I suspect we were just missing the open places, but it's ok. I don't need to be spending that money anyway and it was nice just walking around the city at night.
Still really love Stockholm, but the weather is unfortunate and I think it's like this a lot. The forecast doesn't have any more sun for the rest of the time I'm here so I'll probably have to get comfortable being wet. I also hate how early it gets dark, which is very unseasonable by my standards. Oh well. Somewhat derails my plans to see one of the nearby national parks with my remaining time here, but there are still parts of the city I want to see tomorrow.
