Yesterday was again very rainy, which has emerged as my only real issue with Stockholm. I still explored a few of the old islands in town but since I got soaked so quickly it wasn't all that much fun. I spent the evening making friends in the hostel and once the rain had subsided a little at night, a group of us walked over to a bar. It was actually pretty challenging to find one with space for 6 people. One of the guys there was Canadian and is doing a similar trip to mine except much longer. Apparently he's trying to go all the way to Hong Kong, including the Caspian Sea ferry. I wished him luck. I tried some very cheap Swedish beer which was actually pretty good, and a similarly cheap pear cider that was probably the sweetest cider I've ever had. We walked over to the Avicii Arena (they renamed it after the musician only a few years ago), a giant sphere that apparently also serves as the sun in the worlds largest scale model of the solar system. I was glad to see this part of the city since I hadn't been there before, but I admit it wasn't very exciting. I again ran into the issue of nothing being open late when I got back to Gamla Stan since I was very hungry. I ended up finding some cereal in the hostel's "free" shelf and that was enough.

All in all, not a terribly exciting day. When I look back on my time here in Stockholm, I find that I didn't really do that much. There's plenty to do here, but a lot of it didn't appeal to me and the weather further tamped my enthusiasm for getting out and about. That said, I still loved the city and I think it's easily my favorite of those I've been to thus far. The layout of neighborhoods spread across the islands is amazing, the architecture is interesting, the parks are better than anywhere else I've been in Europe, and there are actually trees. My hostel was great too. Onto Geneva - not a city I know much about, nor one that I have a lot of plans for especially since I'll only be there one night. Hopefully I'll meet some people and get a feeling for things before I leave.
